Espeleotoponímia de motivació paleontològica i antracotoponímia de les Illes Balears.

Abstract

In this paper we collect and study, from a etnopaleontological perspective, the contributions and influence of the fossils in relation to the place names of the karstic caves in the linguistic heritage of the Balearic Islands. Usually are modern or recent micro place names, established by both scientists and speleologists studying the caves. We can distinguish between first order place names (when referring to a full cave) and second order names (when referring to a sector of a cave). It also makes a first approach to the place names related to fossil coal mining extraction.
