dc.description.abstract [eng] This research aims to discuss the need of teaching pronunciation in secondary school as a crucial constituent to develop intelligibility and comprehensibility when communicating in English as a foreign language (EFL). The theoretical part of this paper offers a general overview of the history of pronunciation teaching in the world and the current situation in an English classroom. The practical part presents a didactic proposal which has been designed for an intensive English program in order to give prominence to pronunciation in EFL classroom and to familiarize students with elementary notions of pronunciation through a set of activities. Besides, the development of the didactic proposal is aimed to examine the student’s comprehensibility, intelligibility and interpretability. Lastly, the practical part also includes an additional section related to pronunciation assessment. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance and the benefits of incorporating pronunciation as one more area of the English curriculum in EFL classroom. As well as, implementing an effective pronunciation instruction in order to guarantee an accurate second-language acquisition (SLA). ca
