Sentido de Comunidad y Participación Estudiantil en la Universidad de las Islas Baleares

[spa] La participación estudiantil en el seno de las universidades es un síntoma de buena salud institucional y un eje fundamental para la construcción de una comunidad universitaria innovadora y amoldada a las necesidades reales del alumnado. Desde la psicología comunitaria, numerosas investigaciones destacan la estrecha relación entre la participación y el concepto de Sentido de Comunidad . Así pues, el siguiente trabajo tiene como propósito realizar un estudio piloto sobre el nivel de participación del alumnado de la UIB, y a raíz de ello, analizar qué relación guarda ese nivel de participación con el sentimiento de comunidad del alumnado dentro de la universidad. Método: Para la realización del estudio se contó con un total de 210 estudiantes de grado que fueron evaluados mediante la aplicación de dos pruebas: la BSCS ‘’Escala Breve de Sentido de Comunidad’’ (Chavis, Speer y McMillan, 2008) y el Cuestionario de Participación UIB (2019). Resultados: No se encontró relación entre los niveles de participación y SC de los alumnos, ni diferencias relacionadas con el sexo y la edad. En cambio, sí se encontraron diferencias entre los niveles de SC y participación de los alumnos en los distintos edificios, así como una correlación negativa entre el SC y la cantidad de años cursados en la universidad.

[eng] Student participation within the university is a sign of good institucional health and a fundamental axis for the construction of an innovative university community adjusted to the real needs of its students. From the community psychology numerous investigations stand out the close relationship between participation and the concept of Sense of Community. The current work aims to carry out a pilot research on the participation of the UIB students, and then to analyze the relationship between that participation and the sense of community of the students inside the university. Method: To carry out the research, a total of 210 degree students were evaluated through the application of two tests: the BSCS '' Brief Sense of Community Scale '' (Chavis, Speer and McMillan, 2008) and the UIB Participation Questionnaire (2019). Results: No relationship was found between the levels of participation and SoC of the students, nor differences related to sex and age. However, differences were found between the levels of SoC and participation of the students in the different buildings, as well as a negative correlation between the SoC and the number of years completed in the university.
