videojuegos. |

[eng] The use of videogames by adolescent population provoke a series of emotional effects,
both positive and negative. This changes in emotional lead to creating or avoiding risk
behaviors, whether they are addictions, disorders, symptomatology or irrational ideas.
There seem to be more positive than negative effects.
This paper aims to determinate the effects of video games on teenagers emotionally, both
benefits and harms, and so seek a solution to reduce the negative effects or defend that
video games also have positive effects.
A bibliographic review has been made in different international databases, concluding
that videogames need a more equitable vision. The results obtained indicate that violent
video games or gambling video games and the prolonged use of video games provoke
emotions such as anger, hostility, frustration… Moreover, these lead to disorders such as
depression, anxiety o the alexithymia and disorders like addictions to them or substances.
On the other side, video games by themselves causes emotionally positive effects due to
theirs ability to immerse themselves and to abandon reality called “flow”, by the
introduction of moral decisions or the ability to regulate emotions. Therefore, an
appropriate use in conjunction with other activities can enhance our emotional abilities
and it could be used as a tool for prevention or treatment in mental health, although it is
necessary to conduct more studies for the innovative and speed with which video games
