especificadas.
[eng] In our daily social interactions, as fast as we categorize people and as we act according to our
cognitive shortcuts, the more possibilities of survival we have. However, the stereotyped
beliefs and prejudices that we have against concrete groups are also given on behalf of that fast
categorization. The following study focuses on the stigma that people with Serious Mental
Disorder (SMD) suffer because of the heavy consequences it has. From the application of the
AQ-27-E questionnaire and from the measure of the perception of Competence and Warmth
based on the Estereotype Content Model, it has been proved that it still exists stigma in the
students of the Universitat de les Illes Balears. Precisely, most of the beliefs are concentrated
on stereotypes of coercion, avoidance, help, pity and responsibility. Over-protection and an
excessive assistance have been observed against people with a SMD and so they should be
changed with interventions focused on the main specified stereotyped beliefs.
