[eng] The introduction of new technologies in agriculture, and in rural areas by extension, is a reality that
has the support of national and international organizations. These technologies, which we can
include under the concept of "e-agriculture" or "smart farming", are assuming important advances
in precision agriculture. However, the risk of the existence of a technological gap is being reported
by different authors.
In this scenario, the rural productive sector can benefit from the current situation of hardware and
software with open source licenses. The low price of this hardware, the ease of reproducing and
adapting technological projects to specific problems, together with self-learning, autonomy, and the
extensive community of knowledge exchange, are factors that are facilitating the adoption of this
technology in the rural context.
In this work five different prototypes, based on hardware and open source software, have been
created. The prototypes are applicable for agricultural production and research. The results have
been satisfactory, while new lines of work have been opened. |
