[eng] The aim of the present study was to study the relationship between self-efficacy, anxiety and performance, as well as the differences between gender in these variables. The study sample was composed of 17 swimmers from Voltor Balear Swimming Club, all of them between 14 and 16 years old. They were administered the CSAI-2R, the General Self-Efficacy Scale and a Specific Self-Efficacy scale of the sport in question. The performance was evaluated with the percentage of improvement, which was calculated from the mark obtained in the competition against the mark obtained in previous competitions. Spearman correlation analyses were performed among the variables; as well as the Mann Whitney U test and the calculation of its effect size to know the differences between gender. The results obtained indicate that there is only a negative significant correlation between the CSAI-2R subscales cognitive anxiety and self-confidence, and also significant differences between gender in these same variables, so that the female swimmers experienced higher cognitive anxiety and lower self-confidence than the male swimmers. |
