La mujer en psicología: Vida y contribución de 3 pioneras invisibilizadas

Abstract

[spa] Este trabajo pretende analizar la trayectoria de 3 mujeres pioneras, que forman parte de las dos primeras generaciones de mujeres psicólogas en Estados Unidos, en un contexto en que esta disciplina científica aún carecía de la suficiente producción y en que la mujer no tenía cabida en el mundo científico debido a la situación sociopolítica de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Rescatamos de esta manera a Mary Whiton Calkins, Christine Ladd-Franklin y Jane Addams de la invisibilidad y el olvido para contar su historia, centrándonos en las dificultades que atravesaron, sus estrategias de resistencia y su aporte a la psicología.

[eng] This work aims to analyze the trajectory of 3 pioneer women, who are part of the first two generations of female psychologists in the United States, in a context in which this scientific discipline still lacked sufficient production and in which women had no place in the scientific world due to the socio-political situation of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In this way we rescue Mary Whiton Calkins, Christine Ladd-Franklin and Jane Addams from the invisibility and oblivion to tell their story, focusing on the difficulties they went through, their resistance strategies and their contribution to the psychology.
