La recuperació modernista de l’art del vitrall a Catalunya: el cas d’Antoni Rigalt i Blanch (1850-1914)

[cat] Durant el darrer terç del segle XIX i principis del segle XX a Catalunya es produeix una recuperació modernista dels bells oficis i, en conseqüència, de les arts decoratives. El vidre tornarà a considerar-se un material digne i l’ofici del vitraller comptarà amb el recolzament dels arquitectes més importants del moment com Lluís Domènech i Montaner (1850-1923) qui col·laborarà en nombroses ocasions amb el vitraller Antoni Rigalt i Blanch (1850-1914). Fruit d’aquesta integració entre arquitecte i vitraller, les vidrieres passaran a integrar-se com un element arquitectònic i decoratiu indispensable dintre dels nous edificis burgesos. L’exemple clau d’aquesta nova concepció de la vidriera, de la inclusió de noves tècniques i de nous repertoris iconogràfics el veurem a la Casa Lleó i Morera (1902-1906).

[eng] During the last third of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in Catalunya there was a modernist recovery of the artisan crafts and consequently of the decorative arts. Glass will once again be considered a worthy material and the trade of glazier will have the support of the most important architects of the time, such as Lluís Domènech i Montaner, who will collaborate on numerous occasions with the glazier Antoni Rigalt i Blanch (1850-1914). As result of this integration between architect and glazier, the stained glass will become an indispensable architectural and decorative element within the new bourgeois buildings. The key example of this new conception of the stained glass, of the inclusion of new techniques and new iconographic repertoires will be seen in the Casa Lleó i Morera (1902-1906).
