Abstract

[cat] Els sistemes de transport reflecteixen la comunicació entre diferents ubicacions dins un espai geogràfic, el grau d'accessibilitat, eficiència i connectivitat són elements que es tenen presentes a l'hora de planificar i ordenar una xarxa de transport. El creixement econòmic de mitjans del segle XX a l'illa de Mallorca configurà una nova situació; el port de Palma intensificà la seva activitat d’entrada i sortida de béns, i l’activitat industrial anhelà expandir-se, originant la construcció dels actuals polígons industrials de Son Castelló i Can Valero. Les conseqüències del panorama resultant, són un clar exemple de com l'evolució de la producció industrial i econòmica ha configurat l'actual infraestructura terrestre. Analitzant els principals mitjans de transport que han possibilitat la connexió directa entre els dos nodes, el ferrocarril i l’automòbil, i com s’han intercanviat els seus papers segons les demandes econòmiques i socials.

[eng] Transport systems reflect the communication between different locations in a geographical area, the of accessibility, efficiency and connectivity are elements that are present when planning a transport network. The economic growth in the middle of 20th century on the island of Majorca was shaped a new situation; the port of Palma intensified its activity of entry and exit of goods, and industrial activity longed for expansion, the construction of the current industrial estates of Son Castello and Can Valero. The consequences of these results are an example of how the evolution of industrial and economic production has shaped the current ground infrastructure. Analyzing the means of transport that have made possible the direct connection between the two nodes, the railway and the automobile, and how their roles have been exchanged according to economic and social demands
