Asociada a
[eng] Low back pain is a musculoskeletal syndrome that manifests itself with pain focused on
the final segment of the spine, which is considered chronic when its duration is ≥3 months
and whose origin is usually non-specific. The global prevalence is 18% and it especially
affects people between the ages of 40-80. Anxiety can appear in association with chronic
low back pain, which affects the perception of pain and makes it more intense. The aim
of this work is to propose an assessment and intervention protocol based on yoga to
reduce pain intensity and associated anxious symptoms, thus improving the functioning
and well-being of patients with chronic low back pain. During the assessment, the
variables of interest that will be examined are: state-trait anxiety, anxiety about pain,
physical activity, catastrophic beliefs, characteristics of the pain (frequency, duration,
etc.), pressure pain thresholds and how the pain affects activities of daily living. The
intervention will target 238 participants from the municipality of Palma (Mallorca,
Balearic Islands), who will be distributed into a control group (waiting list) and a
treatment group. The treatment group will practice Viniyoga, doing two weekly classes
of 90 minutes duration, for four months. Once this period has elapsed, the evaluation will
be repeated to observe changes in the variables of interest, and the same intervention will
be carried out in the control group
