[eng] In recent times, with the exponential growth of technologies, interventionism and the medicalization of births have increased. This trend results from the biomedical model, and has contributed to the woman's physical, mental and emotional health being affected, while favoring the gradual loss of autonomy and leadership during childbirth. With the purpose of recovering the philosophy of natural childbirth, at the moment it is beginning to bet on more compatible childbirth modalities with this philosophy, among which water delivery stands out, the acceptance of which continues to be a subject of great controversy among society and within of the health system since there are not enough studies showing the associated benefits or the absence of adverse effects. In order to clarify the current available evidence, in this work I have carried out a bibliographic search that allows analyzing the physical, emotional and social impacts that water delivery implies compared to conventional delivery. The search yielded 293 articles, of which 31 were included after a critical reading. Most of the articles are of observational or qualitative methodology, although the presence of multiple reviews and meta-analyzes is also highlighted. The evidence found, despite not being of high quality, suggests that water delivery offers psychological and physical benefits, in addition to not having a statistically significant difference in increased risk compared to conventional delivery. As for the social impact, there continues to be a great reluctance to accept it and a lack of education about it. All this implies an implication both in research, in training and in politics, since the absence of quality studies shows the need for research that allows obtaining reliable results that defend or reject childbirth in water, and that allow bet on favorable policies that promote training in this modality.
