La temática mitológica báquica en las pinturas de las colecciones reales de Felipe IV en el Museo del Prado

Abstract

[spa] La pintura de temática mitológica ocupó un lugar relevante entre las colecciones del rey Felipe IV durante su reinado en el siglo XVII. Este trabajo de final de grado se ha centrado en aquellas obras de repertorio mitológico báquico distribuidas entre las distintas residencias reales del monarca. A lo largo de este trabajo desarrollaremos aspectos acerca de la ubicación, función y significación de estas pinturas, vinculándolas con el papel fundamental de su promotor. También nos centraremos en la diversidad iconográfica que presentan, además de destacar sus singularidades respecto a otras obras europeas del siglo XVII.

[eng] Mythological-themed painting occupied a relevant place among the collections of King Philip IV of Spain during his reign in the 17th century. This final degree project has focused on those Bacchic mythological repertoire works distributed among the different royal residences of the monarch. Throughout this work we will develop aspects about the location, function and significance of these paintings, linking them with the fundamental role of their promoter. We will also focus on the iconographic diversity they present, in addition to highlighting their singularities with respect to other European works from the 17th century.
