Los efectos de la crisis económica en el empleo del sector turístico Balear (2008-2015)

[spa] La crisis económica que se inició en el año 2008 fue la consecuencia de un aumento de los precios de la vivienda durante el periodo que comprende entre 1998 y 2008. Este aumento de precios fue motivado por un sector bancario que bajó las restricciones a la hora de conceder hipotecas. Una vez explotó la burbuja inmobiliaria existente, se inició una gran recesión que tuvo graves impactos en el empleo a nivel Nacional. En el caso de las Islas Baleares, el elevado peso del turismo sobre la economía de este territorio consiguió mitigar los efectos de dicha crisis. La elevada temporalidad de la economía turística permitió flexibilizar el mercado laboral, con un aumento de contratos temporales y jornadas parciales, incrementó la población ocupada en el sector turístico y así se evitó la destrucción de empleo a nivel autonómico.

[eng] The economic crisis that began in 2008 was the consequence of an increase in house prices during the period between 1998 and 2008. This price increase was motivated by a banking sector that lowered restrictions when it came to grant mortgages. Once the existing real estate bubble burst, a great recession started, which had serious impacts on employment nationwide. In the case of the Balearic Islands, the high weight of tourism on the economy of this territory managed to mitigate the effects of this crisis. The high temporality of the tourist economy allowed the labor market to become more flexible, with an increase in temporary contracts and part-time work.
