Análisis del efecto de la reproducción sobre la capacidad cognitiva en ratas

[spa] El envejecimiento va asociado a una degeneración inevitable de las funciones cognitivas y motoras del cuerpo que aumenta con el paso del tiempo. A su vez la maternidad viene acompañada de muchos cambios endocrinos y estructurales, incluyendo el sistema nervioso, y en particular regiones como el hipocampo. Varios estudios postulan que el periodo del embarazo y la experiencia de la maternidad provocan una serie de cambios cognitivos, debido a esto se propuso estudiar el efecto del embarazo y de la maternidad sobre la capacidad cognitiva de ratas. Por una parte, se compararon las capacidades cognitivas de ratas jóvenes embarazadas y controles, y por otra parte se estudió el efecto de la maternidad en el envejecimiento cerebral, comparando ratas viejas reproductoras frente a ratas viejas no reproductoras. En el presente estudio, se ha utilizado la prueba comportamental del test de Barnes y se ha llevado a cabo un estudio bibliográfico sobre los efectos endocrinos que podrían ser los responsables de los cambios observados.

[eng] Aging is associated with an inevitable degeneration of the body's cognitive and motor functions that increases over time. In turn, motherhood is accompanied by many endocrine and structural changes, including the nervous system, and in particular regions such as the hippocampus. Several studies postulate that the period of pregnancy and the experience of maternity cause a series of cognitive changes, and because of this it was proposed to study the effect of pregnancy and maternity on the cognitive capacity of rats. On the one hand, the cognitive abilities of young pregnant rats and controls were compared, and on the other hand the effect of motherhood on brain ageing was studied, comparing old reproductive rats against old non-reproductive rats. In the present study, we used the behavioural test of the Barnes test and carried out a literature study on the endocrine effects that could be responsible for the observed changes.
