[spa] Determinados entes de carácter público como son las Fundaciones Públicas, así como aquellas entidades que operan en el llamado tercer Sector, se configuran como aquella parte de nuestra sociedad que siempre ha estado presente en las acciones que han tratado de hacer frente a las situaciones de desigualdad y de exclusión social, si se considera que estas no están causadas por hechos coyunturales, sino por la persistencia de problemas estructurales económicos y sociales generadores de inequidad. Las sociedades contemporáneas de tipo occidental, con un modelo de democracia liberal, sociedad plural, y una cultura de respeto y tolerancia hacia las personas, independientemente de su raza, religión, sexo e ideología que responden al modelo de una democracia liberal y una economía de mercado han desarrollado lo que se conoce como un “ tercer sector” de actividades sociales (llamado así para diferenciarlo de los otros dos sectores, el Estado y del mercado). Estas entidades, están sujetas a un régimen jurídico, contable y fiscal diferente, que pretende impulsar el desarrollo de entidades sin fines de lucro. En este trabajo se analiza estas características, desde la óptica de la Fundación Banco de Sangre de las Islas Baleares.
