[cat] La Setmana Santa de Sevilla és la principal festa religiosa de la ciutat. Ha estat així gairebé des del segle XVI en que va sorgir la celebració. Al segle XVII, degut a la puixança econòmica de la ciutat i dels grans artistes que hi vivien, les confraries varen adquirir imatges i passos que varen engrandir el seu patrimoni i que molts ens han arribat fins a l’actualitat. És al barroc quan se configura una celebració que s’ha mantingut amb relatives poques variacions fins avui dia. Aquestes imatges barroques criden a l’espectador a pregar i a la devoció ja que mostren el dramatisme de la Passió de Crist d’una manera molt impactant.

[eng] Holy Week in Seville is the main religious holiday in the city. It has been this way almost since the sixteenth century when the celebration was born. In the 17th century, due to the economic prosperity of the city and the great artists who lived there, the brotherhoods acquired images and «pasos» that increased their heritage and have reached many of us to this day. It is in the baroque period when this celebration is set up that has remained with relatively small variations to nowadays. These baroque images call on the viewer to pray and to devotion as they show the dramatic nature of the Passion of the Christ in a very shocking way.
