dc.description.abstract [eng] Tourism worldwide has been one of the sectors most affected economically by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Ecuador, tourism is an activity that occupies the second place in non-oil income for the country. In this context, the objective of this research was to identify the immediate actions and strategies that the central and local governments intend to apply to help reactivate the tourism sector. The methodology used consisted in the application of a snowball technique, supported by a linkographic bibliographic review. The results determine that there are actions and protocols established by the pertinent organisms to reactivate tourism progressively, however, it will not be possible to establish their effects in a short period of time. It is imperative that the state generate effective public policies and allocate economic resources for tourism immediately, so that the situation of thousands of tourism entrepreneurs who are on the verge of bankruptcy can be recovered and strengthened.
