[eng] The surface temperatures recorded in the mountains are characterized by their variability. Although an adiabatic gradient of 0.65ºC per 100 meters is generally accepted, several recent works have demonstrated the existence of specific vertical thermal gradients. And it is that these gradients are not constant since they vary spatio-temporally based on other variables such as altitude, humidity, orientation, atmospheric pressure, latitude, the predominant synoptic situations, and the characteristics of the relief.
This study focuses on the vertical thermal gradient of the Serra de Tramuntana, on the island of Mallorca, from the analysis of the daily temperatures of four meteorological stations located at different points in the mountains between 2015 and 2017. Specifically, said research It focuses on the Lluc stations (483 meters1, Northeast2), Míner Gran (560 meters1, East2), Son Torrella (840 meters1, Southeast2) and Coll des Telègraf (1105 meters1, Northeast2).
The differential physiographic situation, together with other main factors such as altitude1 and orientation2, have caused the obtaining of the adiabatic gradient to have been divided between those stations located in the valley (Lluc and Son Torrella) with a gradient of 0.47ºC / 100 meters. and those located on summits (Míner Gran and Coll des Telègraf) with a gradient of 0.65ºC / 100 meters. From this division and a series of calculations, an average adiabatic gradient of 0.56ºC per 100 meters has been obtained, a result like other types of altitude thermal gradient studies previously carried out in the Mediterranean area
