Prácticas en Alimentómica: “Estado nutricional y susceptibilidad a las afecciones del SARS-CoV-2”.

[spa] Introducción: Alimentómica es una empresa dedicada a la investigación y al desarrollo de prácticas innovadoras que permitan mejorar la alimentación y la salud de las personas. Entre sus líneas de trabajo se encuentran la nutrición personalizada, la nutrición perinatal y la línea de helath claims y novel foods. Sin embargo, con la aparición de la pandemia COVID-19 en marzo de 2020, la empresa ha enfocado parte de su investigación en la lucha contra esta nueva enfermedad. Objetivo: El objetivo general de estas prácticas y trabajo de fin de máster es la realización de una revisión bibliográfica para investigar el impacto que pueda tener el estado nutricional sobre la actual enfermedad COVID-19 causada por el virus SARSCoV-2. Metodología: Consiste en una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos PubMed, Web of Science y LitCovid, y en una revisión de las referencias de artículos previamente seleccionados para el trabajo. Resultados: Se han evaluado un total de 96 artículos a partir de los cuales se ha elaborado todo el contenido de la presente revisión. Conclusiones: El nuevo SARS-CoV-2 se ha convertido en la séptima cepa de coronavirus que infecta a humanos y es responsable de la actual pandemia por COVID19. Los factores de riesgo que se han asociado con un peor pronóstico de COVID-19 son la edad ≥ 65 años, el género masculino, la obesidad, la presencia de enfermedades crónicas previas y factores genéticos. El estado nutricional es un factor importante que contribuye al apoyo del sistema inmune para hacer frente a las enfermedades respiratorias como COVID-19. El papel de ciertos nutrientes en la infección por el SARS-CoV-2 debe ser estudiado más a fondo para conocer los posibles beneficios de la suplementación en la prevención y el tratamiento de la enfermedad.

Among its lines of work are personalized nutrition, perinatal nutrition and the line of helath claims and novel foods. However, with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the company has focused part of its research on the fight against this new disease. Objective: The general objective of these practices and master's thesis is to carry out a bibliographic review to investigate the impact that nutritional status may have on the current COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Methodology: It consists of a bibliographic search in the PubMed, Web of Science and LitCovid databases, and a review of the references of articles previously selected for the work. Results: A total of 96 articles have been evaluated from which all the content of this review has been prepared. Conclusions: The new SARS-CoV-2 has become the seventh strain of coronavirus to infect humans and is responsible for the current COVID-19 pandemic. The risk factors that have been associated with a worse prognosis of COVID-19 are age ≥ 65 years, male gender, obesity, the presence of previous chronic diseases and genetic factors. Nutritional status is an important factor that contributes to supporting the immune system to cope with respiratory diseases such as COVID-19. The role of certain nutrients in SARS-CoV-2 infection needs to be further studied to understand the potential benefits of supplementation in the prevention and treatment of the disease.
