[eng] Synchronized circadian rhythms are essential for a healthy life. The regulation of these rhythms is provided by the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the endogenous clock or circadian pacemaker of vertebrates, due to the capture of signals or synchronizers (zeitgebers) such as the light-dark cycle that adjust the internal rhythm to the 24-hour geophysical cycles and that control the regulation of important hormones such as melatonin. Chronodisruption refers to the misalignment of these rhythms to the established environmental cycles, specially the light-dark cycle, with the resulting loss of continuous periodicity. One of the factors that can lead to this desynchronization is shift-working, where by imposing work schedules, the sleep-wake rhythm is altered with a decrease in the quantity and quality of sleep, which leads to a variety of associated pathologies and a deterioration of health in the long-term. In the present study, it has been done a research on the impact of working in shifts and how it affects the sleep-wake rhythm in some shifts, and also a pilot study about these alterations in the different work shifts of local policemen of Palma have been carried out by applying a non-invasive measurement method, the Kronowise KW6 device, which can measure rhythm associated variables, and also some psychological tests.
