Study of the demographic parameters of the populations of the red slider terrapene Trachemys scripta (Thunberg, 1792) from the golf courses of Mallorca, and their comparation with a natural environment population

[eng] Recently, the introduction of new species into regions or ecosystems that are not their own has become one of the most critical concerns of our society. Among the species that have become a problem worldwide, there is the Pond Slider (Trachemys scripta). The Trachemys scripta was sold around the globe as a pet, and now there are populations everywhere. To control these populations, there are control programs, and to be aware of their effectiveness, it was decided to compare the demographic parameters of four populations of Mallorca (one from natural habitat and three from Golf Courses). To compare these populations, it was noted the sex of the individual captured and the age; also, it was measured its carapace and plastron length and its weight, with it, it was observed that there were more females than males, and the proportion of juveniles was lower compared to the adults. To sum up, it seems that the controls are adequate, but it is recommended to continue with the study to improve its effectiveness.

[cat] Recentment, la introducció de noves espècies a regions o ecosistemes que no són els seus propis s'ha convertit en una de les preocupacions més crítiques de la nostra societat. Entre les espècies que s'han convertit en un problema a tot el món, hi ha la Tortuga de Florida (Trachemys scripta). La Trachemys scripta es va vendre a tot el món com a mascota, i ara hi ha poblacions arreu. Per controlar aquestes poblacions, hi ha programes de control, i per ser conscient de la seva efectivitat, es va decidir comparar els paràmetres demogràfics de quatre poblacions de Mallorca (una d'un hàbitat natural i tres de camps de golf). Per comparar aquestes poblacions, es va observar el sexe de l'individu capturat i l'edat; també, es va mesurar la longitud de la closca i el plastró i el seu pes, amb ella, es va observar que hi havia més dones que homes, i la proporció de juvenils era menor en comparació amb els adults. En resum, sembla que els controls són adequats, però es recomana continuar amb l'estudi per a millorar la seva eficàcia.
