Different periods' tourism industry development policies undeniably played a
significant role in guiding and promoting the tourism industry, which has steadily
grown to become one of China's fastest growing industries and enjoys strong
international competitive advantages. By promoting tourism exchanges and
cooperation between provinces along the route, the Silk Road Economic Belt,
as a critical component of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative, has made a
significant contribution to the growth of China's tourism economy. This article
compares the changes in tourism policies that have occurred along the Silk
Road tourism belt since China's tourism boom, as well as the tourism industry's
reaction to these policy changes. The study emphasizes the importance of
tourism policy support, highlighting the positive impact of the "One Belt, One
Road" Initiative on tourism arrivals, tourism revenues, tourist attractions, and
tourism enterprises in key provinces and cities along the Silk Road tourism belt,
as well as the negative impact on the environment.
