[eng] The paper presents important issues of wine tourism development with the aim to invigorate local
regions. On the example of Majorca, which is an island with a rich tradition of viticulture and wine
production, the main problems of a regional nature related to the development of this form of tourism on
the largest island of the Balearic Islands are presented. The potential of Majorca's wine tourism was
presented and the necessary measures that could have a positive impact on its use were indicated.
- Purpose: This study is a research project that focuses on the potential of enotourism to
revitalize the central region of Majorca. The aim of the article is to examine the challenges and
possibilities of enotourism, as well as its application.
- Methodology: The database was collected using the Delphi method, in which experts from
the wine and hospitality industry participated by giving their opinion about enotourism. The study
consisted of two rounds in which experts first had to answer six open-ended questions, and then six
questions in the form of a test.
- Results: The results show that in order to develop and become a tool for the development of
tourist destinations, it is necessary to organize activities related to enotourism in close cooperation with
wineries and tourist companies, local governments and the community. Moreover, this cooperation is
necessary to ensure success.
- Value: This research contributes to the development of the recovery process (after
Coronavirus pandemic) of tourism activity in Majorca, which is the most important part of local economy.
Readers will find in this paper an innovative research that can generate more opportunities to attract
customers to the central part of the island and thus increase income and advantages of the tourism
industry in Majorca as well.
- Conclusions: enotourism can be developed in the island and it has a great impact on the
development of the region on a global scale. |
