La atención a niños/as con enfermedades terminales o que limitan la vida y sus familias, dentro de Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos: una revisión de la literatura

[spa] El diagnóstico de una enfermedad terminal supone cambios importantes en la vida de las personas que lo reciben, no solo los afectados directamente por la enfermedad sino en las personas de su contexto más cercano. Los Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos se crearon con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida de estas personas ofreciéndoles una atención integral, física, social, psicológica y espiritual. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo explorar cómo son los servicios que reciben los niños/as con enfermedades terminales y sus familias, dentro de Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos; e identificar cuáles son los temas que se tienen que priorizar en la investigación sobre CPP. Para ello se realizó una revisión sistematizada de la literatura y se analizaron un total de 33 documentos. Los resultados muestran la importancia de investigar en este campo, debido a que su desarrollo es relativamente reciente. Se precisa de más investigación sobretodo dando voz a los niños/as que reciben los servicios de CPP.

[eng] The diagnosis of a terminal illness involves important changes in the lives of the people who receive it, not only those directly affected by the disease but also in the people in their closest context. Pediatric Palliative Care was created with the aim of improving the quality of life of these people by offering comprehensive physical, social, psychological and spiritual care. The present study aims to explore the services received by terminally ill children and their families, within Pediatric Palliative Care; and to identify which are the topics that have to be prioritized in the research on CPP. For this, a systematic review of the literature was carried out and a total of 33 documents were analyzed. The results show the importance of research in this field, since its development is relatively recent. More research is needed especially giving voice to children who receive CPP services.
