El rol del mercado interbancario en crisis financiera de 2008

Abstract

[spa] Este Trabajo de Final de Grado tratará sobre el rol que tuvo el mercado interbancario en la crisis financiera de 2008. Para ello, comenzaremos dándole un enfoque global explicando las causas, el periodo de recesión y las consecuencias que tuvo. Continuaremos desarrollando cómo actuó el sistema financiero, explicaremos la conocida teoría “demasiado grande para quebrar” y expondremos cómo se gestionó la liquidez. Presentaremos los estudios que se han realizado sobre el tema y los resultados que han arrojado. Posteriormente analizaremos si la regulación fue suficiente o si deberían haber impuesto medidas más duras. Además de preguntarnos si los bancos fueron realmente los responsables de la caída de la economía. Para concluir, consideraremos si se podría haber evitado este hecho y si podría volver a suceder o se han subsanado los errores que cometieron.

[eng] This Final Degree Project will deal with the role that the interbank market played in the 2008 financial crisis. To do this, we will begin by giving it a global approach, explaining the causes, the recession period and the consequences it had. We will continue developing how the financial system acted, explaining the famous “too big to fail” theory and discussing how liquidity was managed. We will present the studies that have been carried out on the subject and the results they have generated. Later we will analyze if the regulation was sufficient or if they should have imposed tougher measures. Besides of asking ourselves if the banks were really responsible for the economic downturn. To conclude, we will consider whether this event could have been prevented and whether it could happen again or the mistakes that were made have been rectified.
