Turismo y generación de residuos: Baleares destino circular

Abstract

[spa] Iniciamos este trabajo de investigación como consecuencia de ver la alta tasa de residuos, el empobrecimiento medioambiental y la saturación turística registradas en las Islas Baleares, que como se verá más adelante, son los principales problemas para solucionar con el objetivo de consolidar a las Islas Baleares como un destino turístico sostenible. Cabe destacar también que el sector turístico es el principal sustento de la mayoría de los residentes de las Islas, así pues, es de vital importancia ampliar el rango de visión y analizar la problemática con el fin de reducir o eliminar las amenazas que conlleva. Finalmente, se plantean varias ideas para encauzar la situación, ya que es claramente mejorable mediante la ya conocida por todos: Economía Circular, la cual a grandes rasgos se basa en el sistema de las 5R’s (Reducir, Reutilizar, Recuperar, Reciclar y Reprocesar) con el fin de crear valor añadido y mejorar la sostenibilidad de los sistemas.

[eng] We started this research work as a consequence of seeing the high rate of waste, environmental impoverishment and tourist saturation registered in the Balearic Islands, which as we will see below, are the main problems to solve in order to consolidate the Balearic Islands as a sustainable tourist destination. It should also be noted that the tourism sector is the main livelihood of most residents of the Islands, so it is vital to broaden the range of vision and analyze the problems to reduce or eliminate the threats involved. Finally, several ideas are put forward to channel the situation, as it is clearly improvable through the already known by all: Circular Economy, which is broadly based on the 5R's system (Reduce, Reuse, Recover, Recycle and Reprocess) to create added value and improve the sustainability of the systems.
