Los resultados confirman que hay presencia tanto de burnout como de fatiga por compasión;
[eng] Formal caregivers often experience high levels of compassion fatigue (or emotional fatigue)
due to the nature of the work itself. The purpose of this Final Project Degree (GFR) is making
an approximation to the study of fatigue due to compassion and the Psychosocial risks in the
Direct Attention Personnel (PAD) of the Son Tugores residence, where people with
intellectual disabilities and behavioral disorders receive cares.
The study involves the 38 professionals who met the inclusion criteria, and each of them
performs two questionnaires: the scale on quality of life (PROQOL IV) for the measurement
of the level of fatigue due to compassion in its three dimensions (satisfaction due to affliction,
fatigue due to affliction and risk of suffering burnout) and an adaptation of the Copenhagen
Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ) to measure the perceived social support.
Perceived social support has been chosen since it is considered a source of satisfaction that
can reduce work stress and improve the work well-being of the professional (which also
favors their quality of life) and this has a direct relationship with the service offered to users
in the residence.
The results confirm that there is a presence of both burnout and compassion fatigue, as well
as pity satisfaction. There are significant relationships between some of the scales related to
perceived social support and the compassion fatigue and burnout dimensions. On the other
hand, no significant values are found with the sociodemographic and labor variables
considered (gender, age, educational level and seniority in the position).
