[eng] Anxiety disorders are highly prevalent in university students and have numerous negative effects on their health. To date, there is still not much evidence on the predictors of anxiety in Spanish university students. Therefore, the aim of this study was to test whether a series of sociodemographic, lifestyle and psychosocial variables could be considered risk factors for anxiety disorders in a sample of Spanish university students. For this purpose, a sample from the UNIVERSAL project was used, and the effect of a series of variables was compared with people with generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder and with people without any psychopathological disorder. It is shown that identifying with the female sex, having difficulties sleeping 8 hours, experiencing daily stress with high intensity and presenting problems with the use of positive coping strategies, act as risk factors for anxiety disorders in this group. The limitations and strengths of the present study are discussed, as well as its possible positive implication in the detection of this type of disorders in Spanish universities. |
