George Grosz: l'art com una arma política en el període d'entreguerres

[cat] En aquest treball es presenta un estudi de la figura i l'obra de George Grosz, un artista caracteritzat pel seu compromís ideològic, un agitador que va usar l'art com una arma de crítica i difusió contra les injustícies socials i polítiques exercides per les elits que dominaven l'Alemanya de finals del segle XIX, entre elles la burgesia, l'Església, l'exèrcit o l'emperador Guillem II. Expressant el seu disgust pel clima bel·licós i la postguerra, així com un defensor dels ideals culturals de la República de Weimar, un dels episodis més esplendorosos de la cultura europea del segle XX. És un bon testimoniatge per a analitzar una de les èpoques més convulses i riques en l'art i la política. Formant part de l'aparició de les avantguardes artístiques, on es va forjar fins al seu exili als EUA.

[eng] This article focuses on the figure and work of George Grosz, an artist characterised by his ideological commitment, an agitator who tried to use art as a weapon of criticism and dissemination against the social and political injustices exercised by the elites that dominated Germany in the late 19th century, such as the bourgeoisie, the Church, the army and Emperor Wilhelm II. His distaste for the war and post-war climate were well known and he defended the cultural ideals of the Weimar Republic, one of the most splendid episodes of 20th century European culture and one of the most convulsive and richest periods in art and politics. Being member of the artistic avant-garde, he developed later his career in the USA.
