[eng] The LGBTQ+ community has been actively fighting for civil rights in the last
decades. However, despite their progress, society has not become completely
equal, tolerant and accepting of LGBTQ+ people. Today, discrimination and
bullying are highly present in Spanish high schools, and minorities frequently
become the targets of these attacks, including LGBTQ+ teenagers. This study
analyzes the situation of LGBT-phobia in two different high schools in Majorca,
located in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Based on a survey, it was detected that
some students still had extremely negative perceptions of LGBTQ+ people,
which resulted in the creation of a didactic proposal to be implemented in a
Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) English classroom. The adaptability of
the curriculum in this subject allows for this proposal to find a place during the
English lessons, in which task-based learning activities enable the teacher to
educate on LGBTQ+ history and its people. |
