La guerra de Crimea i el turisme a les Illes Balears

[spa] Se inicia este trabajo con el objetivo de analizar cómo uno de los conflictos más relevantes del siglo XXI en Europa, “La Anexión de Crimea”, tuvo una influencia directa en la demanda de los principales destinos turísticos del Mediterráneo, especialmente analizando los números de las Islas Baleares. Además, se analiza el contexto previo durante los años de la Gran Recesión, período notable y significativo en la economía mundial. La intervención militar de Vladimir Putin en Ucrania tras la destitución del presidente ucraniano Víktor Yanukóvych para anexionar la península de Crimea a Rusia se la recuerda como una de las peores crisis entre Rusia y Occidente desde la Guerra Fría. La mayoría de los europeos optaron por destinos ubicados más al oeste del continente para evitar escenarios turbios consecuencia de las movilizaciones militares. El mar Mediterráneo abarca una amplia área de costas ideales para el turismo de sol y playa como es el archipiélago balear en España. Sin embargo, también se analizará la disminución de uno de los segmentos más rentables del turismo balear como son los turistas rusos. Por otro lado, a partir del verano del 2014 ya se consideraban a las costas de Crimea como lugar ideal para el turismo de sol y playa (para el público de Europa del este) ya que en términos de movilidad era más cómodo y su promoción iba in crescendo.

[eng] The aim of this thesis is to analyse how one of the most relevant conflicts of the 21st century in Europe, "The Crimean War", had a direct influence on the demand for the main tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, especially analysing the numbers of the Balearic Islands. In addition, the previous context during the years of the Great Recession, a remarkable and significant period in the world economy, is analysed. Vladimir Putin's military intervention in Ukraine following the ousting of Ukrainian President Víktor Yanukóvych to annex the Crimean Peninsula to Russia is remembered as one of the worst crises between Russia and the West since the Cold War. This event is known to have led to divergent holiday choices among both Russian and non-Russian tourists. Most Europeans opted for destinations further west on the continent to avoid messy scenarios resulting from military mobilisations. The Mediterranean Sea encompasses a large area of coastline ideal for sun and beach tourism, such as the Balearic archipelago in Spain. However, the decline of one of the most profitable segments of Balearic tourism, Russian tourists, will also be analysed. On the other hand, from the summer of 2014 onwards, the Crimean coast was already considered an ideal place for sun and beach tourism, as it was more convenient in terms of mobility and its promotion was increasing.
