dc.description.abstract The article studies the career of a 16th century jurist and ecclesiastic, Luis de Villalonga, known as 'the archdeacon', who carried out his duties on the island of Mallorca and later in Valladolid, during the reign of Charles V. Villalonga wrote some works legal issues and participated in the debates of his time, particularly those dedicated to the legality of the conquest of the Indies
