El amor propio y el amor al otro en la sociedad líquida

Abstract

[spa] En la modernidad líquida actual, el amor propio y el amor al prójimo parecen haber perdido el terreno que antaño compartían. La competitividad, el narcisismo y la búsqueda del beneficio propio son ahora los aspectos más importantes en la vida de los sujetos modernos, quienes han dejado de lado cualquier ápice de paciencia, conocimiento, respeto y compromiso que no reporte algún tipo de ganancia. ¿Están realmente en peligro de extinción las concepciones tradicionales del ágape y del amor propio en la sociedad moderna líquida? En el presente trabajo caracterizaremos estos dos tipos de amor para poder analizar por qué sus condiciones de posibilidad están ahora en una situación precaria y poder dar respuesta a esta pregunta.

[eng] In the liquid modernity of our time, self-love and love of neighbor seem to have lost the ground they once shared. Competitiveness, narcissism and the pursuit of self-interest are now the most important aspects in the lives of modern subjects, who have left aside every bit of patience, knowledge, respect and commitment that does not bring any kind of profit. Are the traditional conceptions of agape and self-love really in danger of extinction in our liquid modern society? In this paper we will characterize these two types of love in order to be able to analyze why their conditions of possibility are now in a precarious situation and to be able to answer this question.
