La imagen de España en las guías turísticas extranjeras (1898-1925)

[spa] El trabajo consiste en el análisis de la imagen de España en los inicios del turismo a partir del estudio de las guías turísticas extranjeras, en concreto las de Karl Baedeker, Henry O’Shea y John Lomas. Se realiza una comparativa entre los tres autores centrada en el contenido del patrimonio arquitectónico y el tratamiento del urbanismo con la intención de plasmar la visión extranjera que se tenía sobre España. Con ello se establece la percepción de los autores del legado histórico frente al avance de la ciudad moderna.

[eng] The work consists of an analysis of the image of Spain in the early days of the tourist industry based on the study of foreign tourist guides, specifically Karl Baedeker, Henry O'Shea and John Lomas. A comparison is made between the three authors focusing on the content of the architectural heritage and the treatment of urban planning with the intention of capturing the foreign view of Spain. This establishes the authors' perception of the historical legacy in front of the advance of the modern city.
