Overtourism en el caso de Mallorca

[spa] El fenómeno del overtourism, o turismo excesivo, ha emergido como una preocupación central en destinos turísticos como Mallorca. En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se propone analizar en profundidad la situación de overtourism en Mallorca, una isla que ha experimentado un crecimiento turístico exponencial en las últimas décadas. Con un enfoque detallado en la revisión de la literatura existente y la aplicación de modelos teóricos al caso específico de Mallorca, este estudio pretende ofrecer una visión comprensiva de las causas, consecuencias y posibles soluciones al overtourism en la isla. La estructura del TFG se organiza de la siguiente manera: en primer lugar, se presenta una revisión de la literatura relevante sobre el overtourism, donde se define el concepto y se exploran corrientes y teorías relacionadas, como la capacidad de carga, el crowding, el antiturismo, y la turismofobia, entre otros. Se analizarán también las causas y consecuencias del overtourism, así como los modelos turísticos relevantes, incluyendo el ciclo de vida de destino turístico (TALC) y el índice de irritación de Doxey. En la sección dedicada al caso de Mallorca, se investigará si la isla está experimentando congestión mediante la aplicación de los modelos teóricos mencionados. Se evaluarán la intensidad y densidad turística, así como la evolución de variables demográficas y de oferta de alojamiento. Este análisis permitirá contextualizar la situación actual de Mallorca y ofrecer un diagnóstico preciso.

[eng] The phenomenon of overtourism has emerged as a central concern in tourist destinations such as Mallorca. This thesis proposes an in-depth analysis of the situation of overtourism in Mallorca, an island that has experienced exponential tourism growth in recent decades. With a detailed focus on the review of existing literature and the application of theoretical models to the specific case of Mallorca, this study aims to provide a comprehensive view of the causes, consequences and possible solutions to overtourism on the island. The structure of the TFG is organized as follows: first, a review of the relevant literature on overtourism is presented, where the concept is defined and related currents and theories are explored, such as carrying capacity, crowding, anti-tourism, and tourismphobia, among others. The causes and consequences of overtourism will also be analyzed, as well as the relevant tourism models, including the tourist destination life cycle (TALC) and Doxey's irritation index. In the section dedicated to the case of Mallorca, it will be investigated whether the island is experiencing congestion through the application of the theoretical models mentioned above. Tourist intensity and density will be evaluated, as well as the evolution of demographic and accommodation supply variables. This analysis will allow us to contextualize the current situation in Mallorca and provide an accurate diagnosis.
