dc.description.abstract [eng] Comic books as cultural objects have traditionally been regarded as inferior to other higher forms of literature. However, these multimodal texts have been awarded on many occasions, and have been the ground for many learning situations based on the use of comic books in classrooms, especially in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) lessons. Superhero comics in particular is a genre which is able to reach many students in class thanks to them being part of pop culture. Moreover, the fact that they have remained is strongly due to the constant process of innovation and creation of new characters and stories, with the intention to be as diverse as possible. Once having engaged as many identities as possible, comic books have the potential to make them become critical thinkers thanks to a large number of quality plots. As a whole, the hypothesis of this dissertation is that Superhero comic books can be beneficial if applied in Secondary and Baccalaureate EFL lessons due to their being part of pop culture, diversity friendly particularities, and its suitability for the promotion of critical thinking en
