dc.description.abstract [eng] This thesis aims to introduce a proposal that explores the implementation of the Scout and Guide methodology in an EFL formal classroom context. By doing this, the thesis aims at bridging formal and non-formal educational contexts. The main objectives behind such implementation are the fostering of students’ participation in the classroom context, the betterment of group cohesion, the improvement of overall motivation levels, and the reduction of students’ anxiety and stress. Heavily related to contemporary, competency-based formal context classroom methodologies, the Scout and Guide methodology provides a unique working framework with which to work these elements of a class functioning that are not directly related to students’ academic success, yet are essential to the accomplishment of such success. The implementation of this methodology must stem from different commonalities between the two contexts.. New models of competency-based education in Spain demand for a different focus when teaching, one that can fulfil the needs of these requirements. It is here that lies the importance of this proposal. This proposal presents four activities or dynamics that are representative of a whole academic year in which these dynamics are applied. This thesis argues that the implementation of the Scout and Guide methodology in a formal classroom context can result in a positive elicitation of students’ mental well-being throughout the academic year, and that through a connective pathway via certain commonalities between formal and non-formal education, a successful implementation can be accomplished en
