La ordalia

[cat] Les ordalies són rituals arriscats, humiliants o dolorosos que s’han usat per a determinar la culpa o l’innocència d’acusats en absència d’altres mètodes probatoris. En aquest escrit farem, primer, una revisió històrica i etnogràfica per tal de demostrar que és un universal social. Tot seguit examinarem les explicacions que se li han donat des de diferents tradicions acadèmiques. Finalment, extreurem algunes conclusions personals.

[eng] Ordeals are risky, humiliating or painful rituals that have been used to determine the guilt or innocence of defendants in the absence of other evidentiary methods. In this writing, we will first do a historical and ethnographic review in order to demonstrate that it is a social universal. We will then examine the explanations that have been given to it from different academic traditions. Finally, we will draw some personal conclusions.
