The use of social media content to enhance speaking and listening in the English classroom

Abstract

[eng] This project suggests a way of introducing social media content to the English classroom in order to improve the development of the oral linguistic skills (oral comprehension and expression). Through investigation of the four linguistic skills and the impact of the internet and social media on the educational world and on how current students learn, a learning situation with thirtheen sessions that works on the four skills and integrates authentic material from platforms such as TikTok or YouTube has been developed.

[cat] Aquest treball proposa una manera d’incorporar contingut de xarxes socials a l’aula d’anglès per a millorar el desenvolupament de les habilitats lingüístiques orals (expressió i comprensió oral). A través de la investigació de les quatre habilitats lingüístiques i de l’impacte d’internet i xarxes socials al món de l’educació i a la manera com aprenen els estudiants actuals, s’ha formulat una situació d’aprenentatge de tretze sessions que treballa les quatre habilitats i integra material autèntic de plataformes com TikTok i YouTube.
