dc.description.abstract [eng] Tooth whitening is a therapeutic procedure that makes it possible to eliminate dental discolorations and aims to achieve a color that satisfies the patient's aesthetic needs; it is minimally invasive and conservative. There are several agents that can be used to achieve teeth whitening, one of them is peroxide with or without laser. Peroxide is characterized by its ability to penetrate the enamel and dentin and, once there, oxidize the molecules of the substances responsible for tooth discoloration. Laser-assisted whitening uses a laser beam to accelerate the release of radicals. free within the whitening gel to reduce the time of the whitening procedure. Hypothesis: ¿Does laser whitening have better results over traditional non-laser whitening? Objective: Compare the advantages and disadvantages of peroxide whitening with and without laser, assessing some risks, among which post-treatment tooth sensitivity, increased temperature in the pulp and color change stand out. Methodology: Searches will be carried out in bibliographic sources in PubMed, JCR, SJR and the 10 best articles with the greatest scientific evidence will be selected to carry out a comparative analysis. Conclusion: There are no significant differences in the use of photoactivation to improve whitening efficacy when high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (25–35%) are used during in-office whitening. en
