dc.description.abstract |
The Tramuntana range (Mallorca) is characterized by an intense slope dynamics with frequent mass-movements of all categories. Stratigraphy and tectonics determine numerous outcroppings of thick limestones overlying the softer materials from Keuper facies, with a lateral strength loosening caused by sea and stream erosion. These circumstances lead the island, where large rock-strips moving along the slope can be shown. The present work focus on a specific area, located between the municiplities of Andratx and Estellencs, where lateral spreading takes place. Geological and geomorphological mapping have been carried out as well as a detailed analysis of cracks, in order to identify, characterize and mark the process of. In a second stage, monitoring by applying DInSAR techniques has been carried out. ALOS PALSAR (Lband) imagery has been exploited for the period spanning January 2007-May 2010. Results confirm very slow-extremely slow movements with velocity ranges (Vslope) below 3 cm/yr. |
