El paper de les dones com promotores artístiques. L’Edat Mitjana (segles XIV-XV)

Abstract

[cat] Es tracta d’un treball centrat en quatre dones pertinents a la noblesa catalana (Elionor de Sicília, Elisenda de Montcada, Francesca Saportella i Violant de Bar) que actuaren com a promotores artístiques dins les arts del color durant els segles XIV i XV . Actuaren per iniciativa pròpia, fent encàrrecs per elles mateixes i demostrant un gran gust artístic lligat a un bagatge cultural important. En la majoria de casos, les obres encarregades són llibres il·luminats, però també hi ha l’execució d’unes pintures al fresc a la Capella de Sant Miquel de Pedralbes.

[ang] The project is based on four central feminine figure s (Elionor of Sicily, Elisenda de Montcada, Francesca Saportella and Violant of Bar), all of them belonging to the Catalan nobility, whom acted as artistic promoters inside the field of color arts, during the XIV and XV centuries. They acted with an own initiative, ordering artworks by themselves and demonstrating a great artistic taste ti ed to a very important cultural acknowledge. In most of the cases, the artworks they entrusted are illuminated books, but there’s also the creation of fresh paints at the Saint Miquel de Pedralbes chapel.
