La iconografía del amor cortés en las valvas de espejo de marfil (s. XIV-XV)

Abstract

[cas] Este trabajo pretende analizar el fenómeno literario del amor cortés aplicado en el ámbito artístico, concretamente en el caso de las valv as de espejo de marfil góticas entre los siglos XIV y XV, momento de máximo apogeo de este tipo de piezas. El objetivo principal es el de llevar a cabo una sis tematización de las múltiples variables presentes en las variantes iconográficas del amor cortés, para ello se ha elaborado una tabla a partir de la recopilación de un total de 129 valvas de espejos de marfil , la cual permite efectuar una exhaustiva compar ación entre las misma s. Como resultado obtenemos la demos tración de la compleja codificación y diversidad de motivos que conforma n este tipo de piezas, que junto a su delicada talla, pone n de manifi e sto tanto su calidad artística como su profundo valor iconográfico.

[ang] This project intends to analyse th e literary phenomenon of courtly love applied to the artistic field, dealing specifically with the g othic ivory mirror cases belonging to the period between the 14th and 15th centuries, which is the time when this kind of pieces was at its peak. The main aim is that of carrying out a systematization of the manifold variables which are present in the iconographic al ternatives of the courtly love. For that purpose, based on a collection of 129 ivory mirror cases, a table has been developed, which allows to execute a thorough comparison between them. As a result, we obtain the demonstration of both the complex coding and the variety of motifs that make up this kind of pieces that, together with their delicate sculpture, highlights their artistic quality, as well as their iconographic value.
