[eng] The recovery of the trauma-induced torticollis is a very specific process, which has
hardly been applied to raptors. The number of traumatisms in raptors related to human
activity has increased significantly during the last years, and for this reason, the
necessity of research about the rehabilitation of these birds since presenting this injury
becomes very incapacitating, with the possibility of making more difficult or impossible
the development of activities such as eating, drinking of flying. This would make them
more vulnerable for the wild life and diminishing the possibility of recovery. By means of a systematic revision in the Pubmet database, Biology Resources from the
Internet and EBSCOhost, and the information provided by the COFIB, a total of 21
articles which allowed to determine which are the techniques applied to humans that
may be also applied to raptors and study their effectiveness. This work will also
consider those aspects which do not belong to the manual therapy itself and are decisive
to develop this injury.
The main results obtained after this research support the theory of getting a better
recovery of raptors with this kind of injuries by applying different manual therapies,
fact which reinforces the importance of the figure of physiotherapists in this field.
