El homeschooling a l’Estat espanyol: les possibilitats d’un mètode educatiu alternatiu

[cat] El present treball ofereix una radiografia actual de les possibilitats educatives del fenomen conegut com homeschooling o educació a casa a l’Estat espanyol. Es comença per la seva conceptualització bàsica i un resum de l’evolució històrica des d’un punt de vista global, i tot seguit s’explica la controvèrsia que pateix a dia d’avui el fenomen a l’Estat espanyol. A continuació, s’assenyalen els motius a favor i en contra d’aquesta pràctica educativa, amb testimonis reals, tant des de dins l’esfera del homeschooling com de les principals veus crítiques, i se’n descriuen els avantatges i inconvenients potencials. Seguidament, s’estudien les característiques de les famílies espanyoles que eduquen els seus fills a casa, la forma en què s’organitzen i algunes de les alternatives a mig camí entre el homeschooling i l’escolarització que tenen al seu abast. S’intenten assenyalar, també, les implicacions d’aquest fenomen a les Illes Balears i a Menorca. En darrer lloc, es defensa que existeixen motius comuns entre els partidaris del homeschooling i els partidaris de la innovació educativa a les aules, i s’ofereixen les conclusions del treball.

[eng] In this paper we offer a current radiography of the educational possibilities of the phenomenon known as homeschooling or education at home in Spain. We begin with its basic conceptualization and a summary of its historical evolution from a global point of view, and the controversy of the phenomenon in Spain is explained. Then, the reasons for and against this educational practice are presented, with actual testimonies, from the field of homeschooling and from the main critical voices, describing the potential advantages and disadvantages. Next, we study the characteristics of the Spanish families that educate their children at home, the way in which they are organized and some of the alternatives halfway between homeschooling and schooling that they have at their disposal. We also try to point out the implications of this phenomenon in the Balearic Islands and Menorca. Lastly, it is argued that there are common reasons among those in favor of homeschooling and supporters of educational innovation in classrooms, and we offer the work conclusions.
