[eng] Circadian rhythms are biological variables of oscillations in regular intervals of time. The circadian rhythms, established by the biological clock which is in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus, can be kept over time thanks to external synchronizers such as dark-light cycle phases wich can be altered by bad lifestyle habits or stress, making the body react specifically against harmful environmental agents capable of altering the balance of daily biological rhythms. The alteration in the sequence or order of these biological rhythms has negative effects on physiological processes such as sleep-wakefulness, functions of vital importance for any living being. The aim of this study was to compare the circadian rhythms of the horses in their everyday life with competitive horses. Two tests were carried out. The first test was to measure the activity, temperature and exposure to light by seven horses in basal state over the course of four days. The second of them, with a duration of seven days, measured activity, temperature and exposure to light of three horses under stress conditions. The final results of this study show a high variability in the physical activity of horses in the three states; they detect differences in temperature between the day and night, during the contest/competition period and show that the activity and temperature regulation of the horses subjected to the stress of the competition responds more to external factors similar to an attack of a Predator and not to circadian regulation.
