Aunque a
A ambos
[eng] Background: Endometriosis occurs when cells lining the uterus grow in other areas of
the body. This can cause pain, heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods and trouble
getting pregnant (infertility). Although nowadays, endometriosis is considered a disease
of unknown causes and has not a direct relationship with food, it is known that there are
a number of factors (hormonal alteration, inflammation, pain, digestive problems) that
in some way can influence the disease. There is scientific evidence that adequate
feeding improves some symptoms of this disease.
Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of feeding women
diagnosed with endometriosis. For this purpose, two groups will be formed, one the
intervention group and a control one to compare the results with the intervention.
Method: A prospective experimental study will be conducted in women who present a
diagnosis of endometriosis. The sample will be sought among women in Area 2 of
health of the Region of Murcia (Area of Cartagena) between 18 and 45 years that
present this pathology. Two groups will be formed: one experimental and one
control. Both groups will be given a questionnaire before the intervention in which they
will be asked about the symptoms related to their illness and the consumption that they
carry on. This same questionnaire (post-test) will be passed back to the two groups at
the end of the study. For this, every week and during one hour, a dietary intervention
with women in the experimental group will be performed. There will be a total of 8
sessions in which they will be taught about the disease, possible symptoms, foods that
can alleviate such symptoms and their properties, as well as guidelines for the adequate
food.
Expected results: This study aims to test whether certain foods can improve the quality
of life of women with endometriosis by decreasing their symptoms and discomfort. The
results of the questionnaires from both groups (experimental and control), before and
after the intervention, will be studied. These results will be analyzed, hoping that the
results of the postest will be better in the women in which the intervention was
performed, and being equal to the pretest results in women in the control group.
