[eng] In many different countries tourism industry faces a common challenge –the low
labor supply and the growing demand for new highly skilled and educated
workers. The following study discusses this issue .It provides theoretical review
of different ways to stimulate people to start a career in tourism and in that way
to increase the supply of workers. In addition ,it examines the key motivators of
young people in Spain and Bulgaria for establishing a career in hospitality, based
on a questionnaire. The results showed that the financial rewards such as salary
and bonuses are the key drivers to start a career ,followed from the opportunity to
have scholarships, free courses and trainings from the government or an
employer. Moreover, from a psychological perspective the most important factor
for young people is the opportunity for career development.
