Causes i factors en la propagació d’un incendi: el cas de l’incendi del Port de Pollença el 27 de desembre de 2017

Abstract

[cat] Donada la importància dels impactes ambientals que produeixen cada any els incendis forestals en la regió del Mediterrani, el present treball de final de grau té com a objectiu l’estudi de les causes i els factors en la propagació d’un incendi que va ocórrer en el coll de Siller el passat 27 de desembre de 2017 al Port de Pollença. La causa de l’incendi va ser accidental. Per això, mitjançant l’anàlisi de les condicions climàtiques i meteorològiques, es pretén observar com aquestes han propiciat la propagació d’aquest esdeveniment. D’altra banda, a través de la teledetecció, es pretén quantificar la severitat i l’àrea cremada juntament amb l’evolució i/o canvi espai – temporal de l’estat de la vegetació i l’estrés hídric de les plantes i del sòl. Tot això comparant en distintes escales temporals per corroborar les condicions climàtiques a les que està sotmesa la zona d’estudi. D’aquesta manera, els resultats indiquen que la sequera, la qual està sotmesa les Illes Balears des dels darrers anys marcada a través de l’índex normalitzat de precipitació - evapotranspiració, juntament amb les condicions meteorològiques del mes de desembre i del moment en que es va produir l’incendi, han estat els factors crucials en la seva propagació. Finalment es proposen certes mesures i reptes pel futur, per prevenir que es produeixin més incendis dins aquesta zona d’estudi.

[eng] Given the importance of the environmental impacts related to wildfires in the Mediterranean region, this study aims to study investigate the causes and factors in the spread of a wildfire that occurred on Decemb.er 27th, 2017 in the “coll de Siller”, Port of Pollença. The cause of the fire was accidental. For that reason, by means of the analysis of the climatic and meteorological conditions, we aim to observe how they contributed to the spread of such event. On the other hand, by means of remote sensing, we intended to quantify the severity and extension of the burned area along with the spatio - temporal change or evolution of the state of vegetation and water stress of the plants and the soil. The analysis of different time scales helped corroborating the climatic conditions to which the vegetation is subject in the study zone. In this way, the results indicate that the drought, which is subject to the Balearic Islands since recent years, marked through the standardised index of precipitation – evapotranspiration, together with the meteorological conditions of the month of December and the time when the fire occurred, it have been the crucial factors in the spread of this fire. Finally, certain measures and challenges for the future are proposed to prevent more fires from occurring in this study area.
